Tony Horton’s Career
Tony was brought up in Connecticut and in his college days, he became the member of “Phi Kappa Psi” fraternity. In 1980, he moved to Los Angeles to become an actor. For some time, he earned as a stand-up comedian; but, due to his love for fitness, he began to work in the World Gym in Venice, California, which was also visited by experienced and well known bodybuilders, such as Lou Ferrigno and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In an attempt to circumvent the cumbersome bodybuilder look, Horton focused more on workout routines to get balance, speed, and flexibility. Later on, he collaborated with Mark Sisson (former triathlete), who made him learn interval training.
During the early 1980s, Horton became an independent instructor and established his own company, ASH Fitness, in Santa Monica. He started to train celebrities, such as Stevie Nicks, Billy Idol, Lindsey Buckingham, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen.
Recently, he has also provided fitness training to actor Ewan McGregor and multiple-Grammy-winner Raymond. Additionally, he has created workout designs for fitness and health magazines, and for television programs, such as the “Dr. Oz Show”.
