Kim Jong-un’s Career

Kim Jong-un is born on 8 January 1983. He attended a leading officer training school, named Kim Il-sung University in Pyongyang. Kim is the grandson of Kim II-sung.  He was the successor to the leadership of the nation. At the Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim Yong-Nam made an announcement that “Respected Comrade Kim Jong-un is our party, military and country’s supreme leader who inherits great comrade Kim Jong-il’s ideology, leadership, character, virtues, grit, and courage”. He held the position of the supreme leader officially, after his father’s funeral on 28 December 2011. He was intimated about the roles and responsibilities to be performed in the new government. He became the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK. According to Korean Central News agency, he is being described as “a great person born of heaven”. In the mid of 2012, he held the highest active rank in the military, i.e., he was promoted to Wonsu. With this achievement, he became one of the only two Wonsu holders alive in North Korea. He was earlier called as “Kim Jung-woon” or “Kim Jong-woon”. As a result of the mistake in transliteration, his name was changed.
