Fatboy Slim’s Career

Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, has received his primary education from the Reigate Grammar School and there he met Paul Heaton, with whom, he started his early shows. When he was 18 years old, he went to the Brighton Polytechnic for the additional studies and pursued B.A. in English, Politics and Sociology.

In 1985, he, along with Paul Heaton formed The Housemartins, a guitar band.  The band became popular due to its hit single with “Happy Hour”. He formed the Beats International. The single “Dub Be Good to Me” from his debut album “Let Them Eat Bingo” was a #1 hit in the UK. He adopted his stage name, Fatboy Slim, in 1996. In 2010, he launched a mix album, named The Legend Returns. In 2012, Cook gave his performance at Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony. In 2013, he performed at Glastonbury Festival, Bestival, Ultra Music Festival, etc. Till date, Norman has produced several albums. His discography includes Better Living Through Chemistry, Here Lies Love, Palookaville, etc.


For his work, Fatboy Slim has received several awards, which includes Brit Award for Best British Dance Act, and MTV Awards for best cinematography, direction and choreography in a video- “Weapon of Choice”.
