Till 1998, he worked as the owner of Hot Rod shop by Boyd Coddington. Foose also appeared on a reality show on TLC, called ‘Overhaulin’. Together with his wife, in 1998, he founded his own automotive design company, called ‘Foose Design’. He currently works as a design consultant for Big Three automakers.
Soon after completing the graduation, Chip began to work part-time for Boyd Coddington and full-time for Sterenberger Design. In 1998, Foose formed his own automobile and product design company, named as ‘Foose Design’ in Huntington Beach, California. He modified and designed a new version of 2002 Ford Thunderbird, called “Speedbird”, and gained popularity for his work in a documentary, broadcasted on TLC. Foose drew the designs for Hemisfear, and in 2007, began a limited production of 50 vehicles. Hemisfear, which is also known as ‘Foose Coupe’ was displayed publicly at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) trade show. Later, a Foose Coupe was sold at the Barrett-Jackson car auction. The first Foose Coupe was auctioned for $340,000.
He designed many automotive designs in collaboration with JL Full Throttle, such as ‘Grand Master’ and ‘Impression’. He also designed a number of vehicles for Ford. He also worked as a design consultant for Detroit’s MotorCity Casino.
Chip Foose lives in a lavish apartment, located in Southern California, along with his wife and two children.

Foose gained a lot of public exposure by appearing on a reality show, Overhaulin. It is an automotive reality TV show, broadcasted on TLC. From Fords to vintage muscle cars, several vehicles have appeared on the show. Till date, more than 80 episodes have been telecasted and the show continues to be featured successfully.
His other TV shows are Rides (2004-2005) and Ultimate Car Build-Off.
Foose is associated with some charitable organizations, like Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camp, which aims to work for children welfare. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Progeria Research Foundation – California Chapter. He was also named as the Grand Marshal of SEMA Show N’ Shine, which worked for children.
In November 2007, Foose was included in the Hot Rod Hall of Fame. He was awarded with the “Most Beautiful Roadster Award” in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2006. He was given with “The Goodguys Street Rod of the Year” award in the year 1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2001. In the year 2011, Foose was awarded with the “Best Hot Rod” at Bilsport Performance Show.
